“You got to be true to who you are, and you can’t forget that. Accept it and nurture it.”
— Edwin Ushiro

Dream-like, faint memories. Embraces in the fog. Haunting stares. Fascinated by the paranormal, Edwin Ushiro’s artwork is usually inspired by ghost stores. My favorites are his Pali series (based off an old Hawaiian story where a young rape victim is strangled with her jump rope and later comes back as a ghost to find her murderer).
Bio:
Edwin Ushiro was born + raised in Wailuku, Maui. He attended the University of Hawaii, Manoa and later graduated with Honors and a BFA in Illustration from the Art Center College of Design, California. He was the storyboard artist for horror thriller, Living Hell (2007) + the TV series, Angel (1999), as well as the conceptual designer for CSI: Miami (2002-2003). In addition to his art, film, and television work, Edwin is the co-founder of Dead Tree Books, a publisher of independent comics.
If you’re wondering, his client list includes: Warner Brothers, Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, Touchstone Pictures, Sony Playstation, Disney Creative Development, Jim Henson Company, Jerry Bruckheimer, NBC, ABC, and CBS.
