Okay, I may get lynched for this, but, I didn’t really like Ratatouille. Sometimes, I feel like Pixar gets the benefit of the doubt and people just throw praise at them just because. Now, I love the Pixar philosophy: “Make a movie you want to see and hope others will want to see it too.” But that doesn’t mean that everthing that they produce is gold.

My main complaint was that it was long and felt long. At the same time, I can’t really see what I would cut to tighten it up. Maybe it was the idea of a rat cooking. Maybe it was the contrived love story that popped out of nowhere. But it was probably the lack of tension. There were like three different villains, and none of them had any bite.

The animation is gorgeous. Like the scene with the cheese, grapes and bread? Amazing. But just like other Apple products, once you get past the shiny exterior, there’s nothing much there.
