Woke up around 5 with the need to pee and pray. I wanted to pray about my feelings about Emmy and the project as a whole. Unlike Honduras, where they could continue operations without a point of sales system, it would be extremely difficult for CSS to operate without some sort of loan tracking / reporting system.

I didn’t want to make a big deal out of my concerns with Emmy. I especially didn’t want the rest of the team to think there was something wrong. This was more for Emmy’s sake, to kind of gentley knudge her in the right direction.

Last night, she had talked about going to the internet cafe in the morning. I thought it was important for her to be at the office with us this morning. Luckily, when I said that I wanted to type something up, she opted to wait on the internet.

    Glad your tummy's better + that things are looking up! Haha, to think I'm missing all this nerdy talk. You know, I read this funny article on Linux the other day + thought of you. I was thinking about posting it, but um, yah, thought better of it. Far too geeky, haha.

    Couple of thoughts that I already sent via e-mail as well.

    * Loan tracking via Excel is a bad idea. Many have tried it and failed.

    * Check out Mifos.Org. It's an open source micro-finance project. Its not perfect, but its a great place to start off. You can take it and build in the unique CSS stuff. I'd recommend retaining the local consultants to help implement it. (you can throw them a few meaty bones)

    * Pirated software can be corrected via a non-profit program that MSFT has to provide software. You can also buy old MSFT licenses on the cheap via eBay :). Did that for Karen's version of Crystal. So we can bestow a legal version on them if we'd like.

    We'll keep praying for you guys. Its a tough, chaotic project. Remember that the Lord's ways are not our ways.
