Ninja vs Penguin

The reason why Zemeckis chose to do it all CG, at least, based on what I read, was so that he could change angles and stuff without having to reshoot it. Think about it. Normally, you have to shoot a scene 3-4 times to get all the angles and all the shots. And when you're done, you might have missed something. Since it's all digital, you have tremendous flexibility to see how things will look before committing to them.

But that's just what I read, don't know if it's true or not.

I believe that you lose an aspect of connection to the actors' emoting though. And I don't know if the CG is good enough to solve the disconnect problem.

One of the reasons why we accept things like toy story, is because it's sufficiently fake. We're built to recognize human faces, and when something comes close, but not quite, sometimes they make us feel uncomfortable because our minds our telling us that something is missing. Something isn't quite right.

It looks like game cgi, which is extremely disappointing. Why bother have actors go through all the motions and then CG them over? Makes no sense.

I remember a few years ago joking that if they wanted to make another epic movie, they should go w/ Beowulf. Then I saw the trailer on tv... it looks pretty good.

Hmm... I haven't read Beowulf since high school.
