Review: Gone Baby Gone

Gone Baby Gone is the directorial debut of Ben Affleck. It’s about two private investigators that are hired to help find information about a missing child. But the kidnapping isn’t as straightforward as it would seem.

For the most part, Baby works. Casey Affleck does a surprisingly good job in the lead. And even though the film is technically sound, it just didn’t generate a lot of tension for me. There was one section towards the middle where they assault a house. But aside from that one segment, it was all kind of flat.

Of course, there’s a twist ending. But it’s not like Shyamalan’s twists that come out of the blue. The twists here work and you don’t feel like you’re being manipulated.

If you like mysteries, check it out. It’ll definitely provide plenty to talk about afterwards.
