Please let me introduce Archer from Hoefler & Frere-Jones. Originally developed for Martha Stewart Living magazine, this slab serif has subtle hints from typewriter typefaces and delightful ball terminals. I’m so taken! Archer really is such a friendly, charming, and sincere face.
As to be expected from HFJ, Archer has hairlines that stay hairline even at larger sizes, small caps, tabular figures, and fractions. Archer’s 40 styles (eight weights from Hairline to Bold) feature extended language support in OpenType. Archer also contains both old-style and lining figures (each with a set of matching punctuation).
Let there be light
Afraid that Archer’s lightest weights may become awkward at headline sizes or disappear in smaller sizes? Fear not! Archer Thin works in headlines (Archer Hairline is useful for anything larger) and Archer Extra Light works in small sizes.
