The kids from Feng Yuan and Wan Nei
Ninja July 24th, 2008

I was actually planning on taking a photo of the road, when my student, David, came out from behind the side building and stepped into the frame. He normally has these giant, sad chimpanzee eyes, but is squinting from the sun.

We’re playing board games on our last day of class. I’m using my crocheted Penguin doll as my board piece. Picture here: Alice, Ping (my teaching partner and translator, who also speaks German and French), Sandy, Vicky, Joanna, and David.

This is Iris; she is just too cute. Even though I wasn’t her teacher, she would run up and hug me when she saw me.

The kid in front is Mark. He started off as the class’s “bad boy” mouthing off, goofing off. So we made him class leader, and then he stepped up and transformed into Mr. Responsible.

Brooms and dustpans transform to become swords and shields.

Two teenage teachers from the States, Joy and Sarah. It seemed like every boy had a crush on Joy!

The student on the floor getting tickled is Jim. Jim is incredibly loud and always trying to negotiate. “OK, we cut the lesson short by 5 minutes, eat lunch now, then I will be quiet for a full 5 minutes more during the next lesson.” The tickler is another teacher, Oscar.

Daisy and her mystery man.

Jessy with 2 of the local kids (not students).
