Woke up around 8:30 and had pancakes with apricot jam for breakfast.
Then we had service at 9:30. The team performed Mission Impossible, then Charles spoke, and then they performed Lifehouse.
After service we chilled before lunch. While we were waiting, Charles came and showed me an email between Paul and Mr. Yang. Essentially, Nazira, Elena, and Christa had concerns about what I was doing here. There was all this bullshit about if I was going to do an expose on them. They were afraid that I was just going to do a film about all the dirt that I had found.
Mr. Yang also had a really nasty comment about what I was doing with Larisa. I don’t understand how a Christian could be so against the work of other Christians, just because they’re not affiliated with their organization.
It’s safe to say, that if I came back to Kyrgyzstan, it would not be affiliated with Mercy Foundation in anyway. There’s just too much bullshit involved.
I fumed and cursed over the email and let the team know how I was feeling. I put on some NIN to try and get my mind off things.
For lunch, we had chicken leg, rice, and red and green peppers. We also had a cabbage soup.
After lunch, I fumed some more and then we left for Issyk-kul.
On the ride, I talked to Daniel about Kyrgyzstan and other stuff.
We got to Issyk-kul a little after 4. The place we’re staying at is a quaint bed and breakfast. No where as nice as the one we stayed at in Honduras, but bearable. It just started to rain as we were settling in.
We chilled for a little bit and tried played some poker.
The rain finally let up and we went to the beach. Along the way, we saw a huge and gorgeous rainbow. It was so clear because it had a huge gray cloud as a backdrop.
The beach was not quite what we had expected. The water was really clear and light, but the beach was kind of dirty. There were bits of garbage mixed into the sand.
We just stood in the water and dug holes in the beach for an hour. Kostya went for a quick swim, but then came out. Charles bought some melons he had never seen before.
Dinner was this small meatloaf patty with a side of mashed potatoes. Vicky found a staple in hers. She literally pulled it out of her mouth because she had bit it. We also had some pancakes, but they weren’t nearly as good as the ones at the office. We had some of the melon that Charles got, and it was pretty good. The flavor was light and not too sweet.
After dinner, we went into town to see what was what. We got some ice cream and then started looking for chips. We scouted practically every shop. We scoped out prices of beer too.
We went back to the room and finished our game of poker.
Around 10:30 or so, we went to the shop and got some chips and beer. The guys were kind of dumb and kept clinking glasses. There was one point where Charles came in and kicked over a can of beer and picked it back up. I don’t know if he was totally dense or just ignored it.
Not too much later, we went to bed.
