In case you missed it

I had eaten some bad squid and was pretty much out of commission most of Friday. I just wanted to sleep off the nauseous feeling, but I didn’t get much rest. My grandfather phoned 4 times in a row. It doesn’t help that he’s hard of hearing, so when I picked up, he would hang up on me. Why the frantic calls? He didn’t want me to miss the Opening Ceremony for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Boy, am I glad for his persistence! Clutching my stomach, hunched over, I enjoyed the colorful, elaborate costumes and graceful performances.

If you weren’t able to catch the show, here are some highlights:

I hope that you're feeling better!!

I didn't get to catch the opening until yesterday! It was amazing and there are really no words to explain it! The printing part was insane too - and then to see that it wasn't by machine but people!! I also agree with how nuts the precision was, even when the the Tai Chi performers formed those circles without any markings! Did you catch the ending with the lighting of the torch? That guy was sick with the running in the air around the entire stadium. I heard that when he was practicing, afterwards he would just lay on the ground for hours unable to move.
