LA: Day 1
Penguin October 11th, 2008
We got in late Tuesday night. Our flight was delayed about an hour and a half, but we did make up some of it in the air.
The first night, we just kind of settled in and watched Planet Earth: Seasons in BluRay.
In the morning, we woke up to this:

The view from Nancy and Tim’s balcony is amazing. They’re such gracious hosts for letting us crash at their place.
I could really get used to weather like this.
After a quick breakfast of french toast, we went to the Amoeba:

This is a crazy large music and DVD store. They sell tons of used stuff. It’s not a place where you go to browse, but to go in with a plan to find something cool and obscure.
We went to Stefan’s

and was greeted by this beautiful mantis. We instantly knew we were at the right place when we saw the giant Apple Cinema display through the front window.
After lunch, Stefan loaded us up with some great swag.

This book is non-production. That means, if you wanted to, you wouldn’t be able to buy it. There are only maybe a dozen copies in existence, one of which is owned by Steven Spielberg. Another, by NvP
We got a group shot of Ninja, Stefan, and the monster before heading out.

Then we hit up Santa Monica.

I’m really digging the out door open air shopping centers. You feel like you’re getting a dose of nature with a lot more commerce.
Grabbed some In-N-Out burger and then back to the apartment. We ended up staying up until 4am playing Castle Crashers.
Update: Fixed the image embeds and links to flickr.
