Maira Kalman is back at the NY Times! I just viewed her And the Pursuit of Happiness painting series. (insert content sigh here) It’s such a treat to experience her trip to Washington DC through her keen observations and thoughtful words. Thank you, Maira!
Ms. Anna Corpron of Brevity Design just released her new Japanese-inspired Wave pendant series. Each necklace is available in black acrylic with a sterling silver chain for $30.

Here’s a mini-process of a hair portrait that I’m working on. ^__^ Drawing hair is so relaxing for me. I spent a few days on this piece already, and they felt like mere minutes.
These long locks belong to a young woman that I met at SVA. I usually like to include some type on my hair portraits and asked for her name. She told me that her name is Nigerian for joy.
I have all sorts of music in my iTunes library, but I keep coming back to Ben Gibbard, lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. Here are some covers by Mr. Gibbard for your listening pleasure.

Danish photographer Simon Hoegsberg spent 17 months making this massive panorama photograph. The title of the photograph is We’re All Gonna Die—100 meters of existence.
There are 178 people in the picture, all shot in the course of 20 days from the same spot on a railroad bridge on Warschauer Strasse in Berlin in the summer 2007.
Here are some of the portions of his photograph.

One of my bad habits is writing to-do notes on my hand in sharpie. This Laboratorium calendar sticky tape might actually get me to stop. The tape is far sticker than post-its (it won’t fall off as easily) and obnoxiously bright (harder to ignore). I could stick it on my bag or person. And it doubles as packaging tape!
Happy lunar new year!! 恭喜發財 for our Chinese-speaking friends. ^__^
The year of the rat has ended and 2009 ushers in the year of the ox. Those born in the year of the ox are known for their leadership, patience, strong imagination, appreciation for beauty, and sharp wit.
Roar. I tried to make him a grinning ox, but he seems a little sinister.
Cute oxen, cows, and bulls are everywhere in the Asian food markets.
Here’s a fun, poppy, electronic groove for your Friday.
You don’t need a big budget to make a great music video. I love the DIY papercutting, stop motion animation in Rex the Dog’s Bubblicious music video. The Bubblicious single drops February 23rd.
