I just ordered my copy of the book, Dark Night of the Soul, a project which combines the talent of powerhouses, Danger Mouse (Brian Burton), Sparklehorse (Mark Linkous), and David Lynch. This 100+ page, 2-pound book contains Lynch’s eerie, beautiful photographs.
The music album that accompanies the book features contributions from the Shins’ James Mercer, the Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, the Flaming Lips and Iggy Pop. The entire album is streamed at NPR’s site.
You can download 3 of the tracks here:
+ Revenge (featuring The Flaming Lips)
+ Little Girl (featuring Julian Casablancas of The Strokes)
+ Daddy’s Gone (featuring Nina Persson of The Cardigans)

No Photoshop here! Beijing-based artist, Liu Bolin, covers his subjects from head to toe with paint so that they blend into their surroundings. This camouflage collection is an exploration of human nature and animal instincts.
Most animals live in harmony with their environment, creating habitats and protecting themselves through concealment and adaptation. Humans conversely seek to manipulate and destroy natural environments to best suit our needs, or the remove ourselves as far as possible from our base form. Through presenting humans camouflaged in artificial surroundings, Bolin questions whether we ourselves are natural, or artificial? We seek to elevate ourselves outside of the natural world, but this in turn alienates us and upsets the balance from which we came.
Artist’s education
In in 1995, Liu Bolin graduated from the Art Department of Shandong Arts Institute with a bachelor’s degree. In 2001, he Received a master’s degree from the Sculpture Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.

Queens-based designer Cardon Webb (aka Cardon Copy) took his mother’s advice: “Leave it better than the way you found it,” and redesigned and replaced hand-made neighborhood fliers around New York City.
Cardon Copy, takes the vernacular of self-distributed fliers and tear-offs we have all seen in our neighborhoods. It involves hijacking these unconsidered fliers and redesigning them, over powering their message with a new visual language. I then replace the original with the redesign in its authentic environment.
Take a look at his before and after shots:

Great short film about trees and Christmas. You’d never see anything like this in the theatres. And that’s the true gold mine for what’s to come. Original and innovative stories like this.

Origami In the Pursuit of Perfection from MABONA ORIGAMI.
Sure most of it is CG. Sure it’s a commercial for Asics. But dang, is it beautifully animated and realized.
