Update: Kindness of a stranger

After hearing Jasmine’s touching story, a few of our friends chipped in to get her the Amy Sol print of her dreams. We wanted to ensure that she would have a copy, just in case Amy wasn’t able to locate a printer’s proof.

Well, 2 minutes after the print had become available online, they were sold out. We managed to get our order in, or so we thought. The next day, I received an email stating that there was a computer error + that they oversold their current inventory.

The good news is that Amy was able to locate a printer’s proof + our Jasmine will be the proud owner of Heavy Heart Empty Shell!

(sigh) I love hearing about sweet folks + about how art has touched someone’s life.

This isn’t my story to tell, so I won’t go into the details. But it’s worth mentioning, because it’s always nice to hear about kind-hearted people.

After my Amy Sol post, my friend, Jasmine, enthusiastically wrote me gushing about how much she loved Amy’s work. Jas recently had a loss in her family, and one of Amy’s pieces really spoke to her and provided some comfort. Unfortunately, the print, Heavy Heart Open Shell, had already sold out. Jas wrote to Amy to share her story and express how much Amy’s work impacted her. Ms. Sol promptly replied and graciously offered to try to locate and send a printer’s proof to Jas. =)
Smiles,

Quiet beauty. Dreamscapes. Furry critters rustling around. Unlikely companions. Sleepy eyes. Soft, muted colors. Oh, I wish I could paint like Amy Sol! And to think, she’s a self-taught artist.

Amy is an American-born, Las Vegas-based artist who draws inspiration from eceletic sources like manga, folk-art, Art Nouveau, and the desert (she lives on the outskirts of Vegas). Sol starts her paintings by sketching on wooden boards and then coating this with an acrylic glaze before applying paint.

There’s the inital draw of her wonderfully delicate scenes, but it’s her craft and narrative skill that keeps me totally entranced.
