Video: Battle of the Batmans

Really well edited and kind of funny battle between Val Kilmer and George Clooney. They use the other Batmans for good measure.

Sometimes I wonder…
My brother sent me these silly links. I have this suspicion that he may secretly (or not so secretly) be pursuing being Batman as a back-up career. ~__^

Batman is my favourite superhero. It might be because he has no real powers or the fact that he has such a rich full backstory. Whatever it is, I can’t wait to see what the Japanese can do with him.

He haunts my dreams… Ok, maybe not. But I’ve been seeing Batman wandering the streets with Lindsay Lohan, needing to hit the gym, being name dropped by a presidential candidate, + now he’s got a movie poster out.

A few friends wrote me saying that they could use a smile. So I give you this little piece from comic writer Kevin Church. The 1960s’ Batman TV show + Frank Miller’s Batman the Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One
= hilarious.

Last year, designer Mike Essl was working a book for DC Comics when he came across two unusual accents in Rā’s al Ghūl’s name—an a-macron and a u-macron. Well, he passed the word on to the boys of Hoefler & Frere-Jones. Since they are such thorough fellows, their OpenType edition of Gotham has got these accents (and others) well-covered in their Latin-X character set.

I’m tickled to learn that Chris Gardner has his own blog! He’s the illustrator behind House Industries type foundry (not to be confused with the self-made millionaire guy). Chris even did the revised Batman logo for DC Comics!* Here, Chris referenced the original 1940’s lettering and lovingly hand drew the type for the new logo.

* Please note: this isn’t the pretty cool + bad ass logo done by Rinzen for Paul Pope’s Batman 100 (also put out by DC).
