This Thursday, Chip Kidd will be presenting a lecture at the Snite Museum of Art. Mr. Kidd is an author, editor, and graphic designer who is best known for his clever book covers. He is currently an associate art director at Knopf where he designs on average 75 book covers a year. Publishers Weekly has said that his book covers are “creepy, striking, sly, smart, unpredictable covers that make readers appreciate books as objects of art as well as literature.” In addition to designing the covers of books, he has also written The Cheese Monkeys, The Learners, and Bat-Manga!

Mr. Kidd will also be meeting with Notre Dame design students to critique and give advice on their portfolios.

Come check out the MoCCA Art Festival this weekend on June 7 and 8 at the historic Puck Building in lower Manhattan! Guests include Chip Kidd, Jessica Abel, Becky Cloonan, Hope Larson, Kean Soo, Rebecca Donner, David Hajdu, David Heatley, Chip Kidd, Alex Robinson, Frank Santoro, and Brian Wood.

Please note: All Saturday-Sunday programming will be held at the MoCCA Gallery, 594 Broadway (Suite 401), just below Houston.

Designer Chip Kidd brought you The Cheese Monkeys: A Novel in Two Semesters, a funny tale about art school. And now he’s got a new book out—The Learners.

The cover was designed by Chip Kidd with illustration by Charles Burns and handlettering by Chris Ware.
