John Krasinski, best known as Jim Halpert from The Office, is making his directorial debut with the dark comedy, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. Adapted from the book by David Foster Wallace, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, follows anthropology grad student, Sara Quinn (Julianne Nicholson), whose sudden breakup leaves her searching for answers and motivates her to conduct a series of interviews. The film’s colorful cast includes Bobby Cannavale, Dominic Cooper, Timothy Hutton, Christopher Meloni, Max Minghella, Denis OHare, Clarke Peters, Lou Taylor Pucci, Ben Shenkman, Joey Slotnick, Will Arnett, AND Ben Gibbard!
San Diego State University graduate, Ross Ching, created a time lapse, stop motion/live action music video for Death Cab for Cutie’s Little Bribes (aka Casino Blues). Ching set out to visually represent the 211 different words sung. It took him two weeks to make and was shot in LA and his parent’s house in San Jose. Enjoy!
I’ve always wondered what it would be like if my two favorite musical crushes, Ben Gibbard and Leslie Feist, got together. I got my first taste when the Postal Service remixed Mushaboom. It left me wanting more!
Ben Gibbard and Feist do not disappoint as they join forces once again to cover Vashti Bunyan’s Train Song. Ben & Feist’s Train Song is just one track from the album, Dark Was the Night. This album is comprised of 31 exclusive tracks and proceeds will benefit the Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS through popular culture.
I have all sorts of music in my iTunes library, but I keep coming back to Ben Gibbard, lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. Here are some covers by Mr. Gibbard for your listening pleasure.
Death Cab for Cutie in the backseat of a black cab? It’s too irresistible. Only half the band is present (after all cramming all 4 members and camera crew in the back of a black cab might prove a bit difficult).
I can’t blame that one onlooker on the passing bus for staring. I know I would if Ben and Chris drove by in a cab.
Hallo to long-time NvP reader, Stephanie! Not sure if it’s your audio card, speakers, or itunes, so I thought I’d post some DCFC videos for you. These are 2 tracks off their new album, Narrow Stairs.
I’m patiently waiting for their new album, Narrow Stairs, to hit stores on May 13. In the meantime, I thought I’d share some of my DCFC tunes with you while we both wait. ^__^

It’s been confirmed: Casino Blues will be making the cut on the new Death Cab for Cutie album. This album (scheduled to hit stores in mid May) was recorded live to analog tape with as few overdubs as possible.
Guitarist Chris Walla describes the album as “really weird. It’s really, really good, I think, but it’s totally a curve ball, and I think it’s gonna be a really polarizing record. But I’m really excited about it. It’s really got some teeth. The landscape of the thing is way, way more lunar than the urban meadow sort of thing that has been happening for the last couple of records.”
