Musicians: Taxi Taxi

Ninja May 26th, 2009

I awoke this morning to the enchanting indie/folk/pop tune, More Childish Than In A Long Time, from Swedish teenage twins, Miriam and Johanna Eriksson Berhan. Under the name Taxi Taxi, the pair collaborated with producer Björn Yttling from Peter, Björn and John for their self-titled debut EP on Efterklang’s Rumraket label. Between the two of them, they play the guitar, piano, accordion, and glockenspiel. While juggling their school work, they’ve played at the Roskilde and Hultsfred festivals.

You can hear Taxi Taxi’s music at their myspace page or purchase MP3s here.

Ninja and I just got back from the Hokkaido Food Festival at Mitsuwa in Edgewater, NJ.  If you can get there, go!  We had some great ramen and picked up some other really interesting Japanese food.

When you enter the market from the side entrance, get in the line on the right side for the ramen.  It’s miso ramen.  The other shop is always there.

What we got:

  • miso ramen
  • crab cream puffs (fried)
  • simmered squid stuffed with rice
  • mochi covered in red bean paste
  • la france pear soft serve ice cream

Thanks to Q and Nancy for accompanying us!

Festival runs until Monday Oct 1.

The NY Film Festival has just announced 28 films will be shown from Sep 28 – Oct 14.  I’m looking forward to Paranoid Park, directed by Gus Van Sant of Good Will Hunting fame.

For all you Blade Runner fans, Ridley Scott will be presenting his “definitive cut”.  If you’ve seen any of the DVD releases, you’ll know that Blade Runner never got its proper treatment.
The festival will be held at Frederick P. Rose Hall this year.

If you’re in the area, come out.
