I stumbled upon some quotes posters from the graphic designer/illustrator, Stéphane Massa Bidal. He’s assembled quite the range of quotes, and these are my favorites of the lot.

You can see the rest of his collection here.

The Type Nesting Tumblr blog hosts photographs of feathery friends making their nests in the bowls and counters of old signs and begs the question, “Do birds have a favorite font?”

75-ways-to-draw-more

Hoping to motivate, Michael Nobbs created a booklet, 75 Ways to Draw More. Like the title of the book suggests, this palm-sized booklet offers ideas to get you going and drawing more.

Here’s the list:

You can download the booklet (a nice, hi-res version) for free from his Flickr page. He even included simple, easy peasy assembly instructions.

Michael also made a limited edition of 50 of the booklet (each booklet will be signed and editioned and £1.00 from each sold will go to Macmillan Cancer Support).  If you’d like to purchase one, click here.

Graphic designer/photographer: Laura Kicey

Ninja April 20th, 2009

I have admired Laura Kicey’s work on Flickr and finally had pleasure of meeting her at a photoshoot of sorts, when Laura documented Tanya Dakin’s close shave.

In about two months, Laura will be traveling to Iceland (Reykjavik and the  fjords around Djupavik) to take photographs. If you’d like to sponsor Ms. Kicey, you can make a donation of $30, $50, $100 towards her expenses. As a gift for your kindness and help, you may select any photo from her trip and receive a print. For the $30 option, you will receive an 8″ x 12″ print. For the $50 option, you will receive a 11″ x 17″ print. And for the $100 option, you will receive a 16″ x 20″ print.

To give you an idea of what subjects interest Laura, here is a sample of her work. I had a really difficult time narrowing down which photographs to post because Laura has so many beautiful ones. So here are a few of my favorites.

Tobias Frere-Jones’s NYC Typographic Walking Tour

I missed the past two NYC Typographic Walking Tours by Tobias Frere-Jones. It’s such a tease whenever I get the AIGA’s email announcements. Because once I check the site to register, they’re always sold out. Fortunately, Mr. Jason Santa Maria kindly posted some of his photos from the tour on Flickr.
