Penguin always teases me when I play with his tauntaun action figure (complete with a little trap door) and shout “And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!”
Naturally, I geeked out when I saw Courtney Clark’s AMAZING dead tauntaun wedding cake commissioned by Chris and Julie Trevas.

Penguin’s been quite ill these past 2 weeks. It started off with intense migraines, then an ear infection, and now shingles (agonizing adult chickenpox).
I went to visit him after I got out of work. My voice is nearly gone (due to a sore throat and coughing) and his shingles make it painful for him to talk. So we sat there in silence, enjoying each other’s company while eating dinner.
After several minutes passed, he cut his scallion pancake into a rough heart shape and slid his plate over for me to see. ^____^

Penguin cooks & I bake! We both adore the crew at America’s Test Kitchen, so it was only fitting that we used their Chicken Teriyaki and Boston Crème Cupcake recipes for our birthday dinner party.
Much thanks to my lovely sous-chefs, Stay-C and Steph, for helping with the delicious Boston Crème filling.

I just finished baking and decorating cupcakes for my darling boyfriend and other half of Ninja vs Penguin. Each cupcake (not all pictured here) has an inside joke sculpted out of sugar paste. It was my first time using sugar paste—very sticky stuff.

Ninja and I just got back from the Hokkaido Food Festival at Mitsuwa in Edgewater, NJ. If you can get there, go! We had some great ramen and picked up some other really interesting Japanese food.
When you enter the market from the side entrance, get in the line on the right side for the ramen. It’s miso ramen. The other shop is always there.
