Good morning & happy Monday! Here are some truly exceptional paintings from Melbourne-based artist, Jeremy Geddes, to kick start your week.

Jeremy received his BA and postgraduate degrees from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. While studying, he was influenced by artists Léon Bonnat, Phil Hale, Edward Hopper, Ilya Repin, John Singer Sargent, Ashley Wood, and Andrew Wythe.

Jeremy’s paintings showcase his impressive technical ability and frightening narratives. My favorite series feature a lost cosmonaut in urban settings.

Jeremy has also done covers for several issues of IDW Publishing’s Star Trek: The Next Generation

Painter: Amy Sol

Quiet beauty. Dreamscapes. Furry critters rustling around. Unlikely companions. Sleepy eyes. Soft, muted colors. Oh, I wish I could paint like Amy Sol! And to think, she’s a self-taught artist.

Amy is an American-born, Las Vegas-based artist who draws inspiration from eclectic sources like manga, folk-art, Art Nouveau, and the desert (she lives on the outskirts of Vegas). Sol starts her paintings by sketching on wooden boards and then coating this with an acrylic glaze before applying paint.

There’s the initial draw of her wonderfully delicate scenes, but it’s her craft and narrative skill that keeps me totally entranced.
