New type wallpapers from Parachute
Ninja March 26th, 2009
The kind folks at the Parachute type foundry have put out some new wallpapers. You can download them here.
Last September we decided to redecorate our office by placing 3D typography on a wall using an inspiring quote by Oscar Wilde “I have the simplest of tastes, I’m always satisfied with the best”. It was during this process which involved cutting and painting the letters when Stavros started taking pictures. Some of them turned out so good that we decided to place them as wallpapers on our desktops.

Centro Pro ftw

Congratulations to the Parachute type foundry for winning an European Design Award for the Centro Pro typeface families!
Centro Pro was designed by Panos Vassiliou, and you can view his sketches and design process here.
PF Centro Pro is a type system, not just a type family. This large series of 40 fonts with 1519 characters each, is composed of 3 superfamilies (serif, sans and slab), includes true italics and supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic. It is an almost ‘invisible’ typeface which has legibility as its main attribute and is ideal for a wide range of design works. It does not attract any unnecessary attention, but rather serves its purpose. A rare case of contemporary type family working across three alphabets, Centro Pro meets an ever-growing demand for such typefaces among pan-European companies and institutions.

Champion Script Pro

I’ve been searching for scripty type for yet another wedding invitation. As much as I do enjoy it, next year, I’m going to take a break, & I won’t be designing any invites. Whew. ^__^
My favorite find (thus far) is the lovely Open Type PF Champion Script Pro. This typeface debuted at the ICTVC (International Conference on Typography and Visual Communication) in June of 2007, and it has been dubbed “the most powerful script ever made.” Champion Script’s forms are based on 18th century master calligrapher Joseph Champion’s writings.
You can check out the making of Champion Script Pro here.
