In a blink of an eye

London-based architectural artist Stephen Wiltshire is a savant. He was nick named the “living camera” because of his ability to accurately draw detailed landscapes from memory after viewing them briefly. Stephen is autistic and learned to draw before he learned to speak. He uttered his first words “pencil” and “paper” at age 5.

Photographer: Shaun Sundholm

Ninja October 14th, 2009

Portland native Shaun Sundholm is a media designer and photographer. He loves tacos and type.

This project is the firstborn child conceived from a life-long love affair with photography and typography. The photo series was shot at an abandoned (and rumored to be haunted) ranch in central Oregon and the type was inspired by my early days as a screen-printer. These pieces complete the sentences that the pictures and the words could never quite say on their own.

HunterGatherer’s creative process

Ninja October 5th, 2009

huntergatherers-creative-process

HunterGatherer is an award-winning design, illustration, animation and production studio founded by Todd St. John. Here’s a look into their creative process.

It’s more an enjoyment of the craft and of the process and being able to work with tactile things instead of computer models, although those are fun sometimes too… I spend very little time knowing sort of what’s going on with the latest camera or software or things like that and probably more time and trying to come up with custom ways of doing stuff. If you can have a process that’s different, you’re going to have a result that’s different.
