Touch
Ninja April 10th, 2008
As densely populated as Tokyo is, people lack the sensation of touch among each other. Long work days prevent couples from maintaining healthy relationships. The birthrate is declining, intimacy among people is dramatically low, and people in general are deprived of the warmth of others. It is also looked down upon to show signs of affection in public thus people are deprived of the opportunity for physical comfort from another when not in the privacy of their home. This is a “point” about Tokyo culture that is oddly kept quite, and most of the time invisible on the surface.
